Why people judge
People judge for a lot of reasons. Most of society would like you to think it’s because of jealousy. Who doesn’t want someone to be jealous of them right. It makes a person feel so much more “superior” in a way when you know there are people jealous of you right.
In real actual fact maybe it is because of jealousy or maybe its because of something else…
People judge because of one main reason. That reason is an indivual’s own personal standards. They measure you up to their standards and then form their opinion about you and how you live your life, how you treat your pets, raise your kids and do your job. Don’t act like you don’t know what I am talking about. You are probably doing it right now. Thinking, that you could have written better, used a better vocabulary or even think of something better to write about and that’s totally fine. I don’t know you and honestly, I don’t give a shit about you judging me. It’s none of my business what you regard as your standard.
People judge because we are all brought up in different ways. And even though we put shit on social media about not judging other people because we don’t know what they’ve been through.
We still judge.
Lets use Children. I know right, who would want to judge a poor innocent child. Yet, you do by judging their parents.
If you were brought up spoilt, having everything you want, not having a care in the world and always having money. Would you not judge less fortunate people? You’re probably thinking no, but you do, their clothes might not be as fasionable as yours, they might not be driving the best car on the market or, they might even be walking where they want to go. Their kids might not have the best to wear, drive or play with and yours do.
If you were brought up with little and your parents taught you to always be thankful. Would you not judge the people in the previous paragraph? Looking at them with their big houses, fancy cars and a shitload of money, thinking they have never known what it’s like to struggle. So you judge them.
Or how about growing up with everything but you were taught to always be thankful because it could be taken away in an instant. Would you not judge your friends that might’ve grown up like the person in the first paragraph? Because they take everything for granted and just expect everything to be there, not knowing that the world could be a dangerous place and money is not infinite and power can be taken.
Lastly, how about you grew up with nothing and was taught to always be thankful, to work as hard as you can to get everything you want and to not let money be the pillar of your world. Let’s say you do and you are very succesfull. Would you not judge the other people that I’ve mentioned because everything was given to them?
The same goes for disipline in children. You give that naughty child one glance and think. Where did the parents go wrong, you would do it better or your children behaves better. I can go on and on with the list, race, money, both having and not having children, social hyrarchy or status, religion etc. etc.
As a human being you will be judged and you will judge. You could try not to, or say because of your religious beliefs you don’t, but you do. You might not say something about it and keep it to yourself, but it still happens.
As parent you will be judged because of the way your parents braught you up. You are taught what they were taught. Yes, sometimes it does happen that the “string” is broken but most of the time history tends to repeat itself. An example, if your dad was a drunk, it would be “perfectly” acceptable for you too to be a drunk. If society says, you should be married at twenty four and have at least one child a year later and it’s what your parents did it too is acceptable and anything else falls outside of this parameter and therefore open to your judgement.
You will be judged continously and probably at least once a day. Would it not make sense to do as you please? Make up your own mind and do things your way. If you are are going to be judged? You might as well be judged on your beliefs, way of living and how you raise your kids your way and not how your parents did it and certainly not how other people sees fit to do it.
