Theory on “Nice” people

The new normal is to be nice to everyone “because you don’t know the road they’ve walked”, “You don’t know the battles they’ve fought” and you definitely don’t know the personal battle they fight within themselves every day.

The problem with this statement is, it normalises being fake. It normalises back stabing and it normalises laughing with someone, and at the same time having an intense dislike for that person. Now just because you put on some great pretentious smile, you have to deal with that person in your inner circle, or at work every day.

Don’t get me wrong you can still work with someone, and have an intense dislike towards that person. Maybe you even work great together as a team. Just be honest about it, even if it’s unspoken and even if you both know it. You would know to just stay out of each other’s way.

How has it ever been okey to look at someone and give them compliments and ask for advise, and as soon as you have turned around you judge the shit out of that person or mock them, which ever one fits your bill.
How has it ever been alright to ask someone for help just so you can point out all the loop holes in that person’s teaching.
How is it okey, to pretend you know what your are talking about, but you don’t have an actual clue, and when someone points it out. They are the bad guy?
How is it okey to see someone fail miserably (This can be in life or in the workplace) and still tell them you are doing great? Would it not make sense to rather rip off the band-aid and give constructive critism and help that person get to where they need to be, then to see them fuck up even more, to a point where there is no turning back and that person’s mission needs to be aborted… and then the anxiety kicks in.
I think this is why anxiety levels are so high these days, because instead of just telling a person straight that you don’t fucking like them and that you don’t give a shit about them (Whichever way), you have to pretend to put on this “nice” face and be helpful. Or pretend to be nice to someone at work because maybe, they are having a bad day.
I also think this is why people started normalising failure. It’s okey to fail, just get back up again. Don’t worry, you got this… Instead of, listen. You’re fucking up and it’s going to cost you. I am not pretending to know what you are doing or how you will survive this because lets face it, I have no idea what it’s like to be in your shoes, but maybe you should think about doing A, B and C and see how it works for you. I am not judging you, I am trying to help. You can take it or leave it, your choice.
I know I say this in almost all of my writing, but it’s good to re-iterate. In some of these issues there are cases that can’t be measured at this level and you can’t just say fuck it and move on. You also can’t not be nice. For instance when it’s someones birthday, it doesn’t matter how much you dislike a person, you can always wish them a happy birthday. It is never okey to say a girl was asking for it when she got raped, it doesn’t matter what she was wearing, and it is never okey to make fun of someone less fortunate, doesn’t matter if that person is being a dick. You tell them they’re being a dick but you don’t make fun of them.
This is my theory of “nice people”, genuinely nice people. This is not aimed at you, we know there are some sickeningly nice people out there who just can’t help it. It’s in your personality, and thank you for making some people’s day and genuinely mean it.
